A Chinese wedding bed, Qing Dynasty, late 19th / early 20th century, with carved, painted, and gilt decoration of figures, mythical beasts, and auspicious and good luck symbols, ingeniously formed of interlocking and pegged panels, the interior with painted panels and drawers below a shelf to the back, modern red velour cushion over white painted chipboard panels forming the bed, approximately 230 by 180 by 210cm high.
