A 17th or 18th century sampler, with text reserve 'Immortal made what should we mind so much as Immortalitie of beings for a Heaven delign'd what but a Heaven the care should be', against a field showing a lady standing holding a flower surrounded by insects, birds and animals, including a dove holding an olive branch and a goat, stumpwork grass and foliage below, a crowned thistle emblem to her left, all bordered by a frieze of red crosses and blue overlapping square motifs, 31 by 25cm, glazed and in a modern frame, 35.5 by 29.5cm.
