Lot 1A fine Japanese Satsuma pottery vessel and cover by Shozan Kinsei, Meiji period, of slab square sided vase form, with twin applied scroll handles and domed cover with two quatrefoil pierced holes and scroll finial, finely painted in enamels and gilt, one side with a panel depicting a lady sitting making silk thread, drawing it from a vessel set with a fire below and winding the thread onto a wooden frame, a small girl crouches gazing into the fire feeding it with sticks, a cockerel can been seen through the large window with views to a snowy mountain in the distance, to the other side with a flock of birds amongst flowing branches by a stream, both panels surrounded by a gilt greek key border, all reserved on a millefleurs ground of a mass of densely clustered chrysanthemums, peonies and morning glory, raised on four small feet to each corner, gilt on black seal mark to base 'Shozan kinsei' in a double gilt lined border, 12.3 by 6.0 by 12.5cm high..
Lot 2A fine Japanese Satsuma pottery miniature vase by Yabu Meizan, Meiji period, of compressed ovoid form, the body decorated with autumnal maple trees, the leaves picked out in pale green and iron red enamels with gilt highlights, against a cream ground covered in a light crackled glaze, gilt seal mark to base, 8.7 by 6.5cm high..
Lot 3A fine Japanese Satsuma pottery miniature bottle vase by Yabu Meizan, Meiji period, with long slender neck and flared rim, the neck decorated with millefleurs, the body with twenty six figures playing various games, including a circle of eleven playing a card game and four drinking tea, against a cream ground covered in a light crackled glaze, gilt signature seal mark to base, a/f chip to rim, 5.3 by 12.1cm high..
Lot 4A good Japanese Satsuma pottery miniature vase, Meiji period, of slender ovoid form with flared gilt rim and spreading foot, decorated to the shoulder and upper body with a millefleurs design, with five butterflies flying amongst the trailing flowers, against a cream ground covered in a light crackled glaze, partial gilt signature to base, 5.3 by 11.8cm high..
Lot 5A group of three Japanese Satsuma pottery miniature vases, Meiji period, together with a later Satsuma bowl, comprising one of squat baluster form, decorated with fourteen figures playing various outdoor games including flying a kite and spinning tops, gilt signature seal mark to base, 7.8 by 9.0cm high, a mallet form vase with knopped neck, decorated with six roundels of flowers and mythical beasts, red, black and gilt painted six character mark to base, 4.9 by 9.5cm high, a circular bowl decorated internally with two figures by a lake and hills, externally with trailing purple wisteria, two character mark to base, possibly Hakuzan, 8.4 by 4.3cm high, and a bowl with squared rim, decorated internally with fifteen seated figures, one reading a scroll, and a dragon, further figures to the outside, marked to base, 17.5 by 8.5cm. Lot 6A group of three Meiji period finely decorated cloisonne posy vases, comprising a pair of vases decorated with white spider crysanthemums or Kiku above further coloured single blooms, with repeated ring border to the base, 9cm high and a single taller vase with wisteria blossom and curling tendrils to the shoulder, with similar decorative patterned border below, 12cm high..
Lot 9A group of Japanese wooden items, comprising an early 20th century Japanned jewellery box in the style of a miniature cabinet, with a single door inlaid with oriental coins, overall 24.5 by 13 by 28cm high, a pierced carved giltwood panel depicting an eagle and a phoenix, 20 by 2cm by 34.2cm high, and a collapsible jappaned corner shelf, 14 by 10.5 by 20.2cm high. Lot 14A collection of photographs and printed ephemera within three folios, including a series of panoramic photocards of early 20th century China, a folio titled 'Indonesian Art, Selected Specimens of Ancient and Modern Art and Handwork from the Indian Archipelago, by C. M. Pleyte, pub. The Hague, Martinus Nijhoff', an incomplete folio of 'The Hundred Best Pictures' Pub. Charles Letts & Co. Lot 18A large South East Asian carved sandalwood box, likely 19th century, of serpentine rectangular form, the top carved with peacock between figures amidst scrolling foliage, the sides with draggons and birds amongst arabesques, the inside lid with further birds amongst trailing peonies, with fitted tray and raised on shaped long bracket feet, 50 by 39 by 16cm..
Lot 19A group of three Oriental hardwood trays, comprising a Chinese tray with inlaid mother of pearl decoration depicting clouds, blossom, bats and butterflies, raised on four stepped feet, 30 by 18 by 4cm, a lacquered oval tray decorated with chrysanthemums and foliage to the edge, 35 by 21cm, and a further lacquered tray of curved rectangular form decorated with birds and prunus blossom, 28 by 16cm. Lot 20A near pair of Chinese hardwood inlaid trays on stands, early 20th century, of rectangular form with shaped aprons and short carved legs joined by peripheral stretchers, decorated with inlaid mother of pearl butterflies, sprays of flowers, and scrolling borders, each 31 by 18 by 10cm high. (2).
Lot 23Five trinket boxes with lids inlaid with pieces of Chinese ceramic, including a rectangular form box with inlaid with Chinese porcelain featuring a figure, 8.3 by 4.5 by 3.6cm high, another of irregular polygon form with a piece of blue and white porcelain, 7.5 by 5.7 by 3.6cm overall, and three other smaller boxes, all of different shapes and sizes, and with white metal bases. Lot 26A group of modern Chinese blue and white ceramics, comprising a baluster vase with flared rim, decorated with prunus blossom, 25cm, a dish decorated in Ming style with flowers, 23 by 4cm, a dish with re-entrant rim decorated with panels of flowers, 6 by 23cm, a bowl decorated in Ming style with flowers, and five lidded vessels and vases of various form and decoration. Lot 27A group of modern Chinese blue and white ceramics, comprising a stick stand, with white crackleure glaze and in relief with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl, 43cm, two bottle vases, each decorated with figures, 25cm and 22.5cm, a bitong, decorated with figures, 19 by 17cm, and alobed baluster vase, 22 by 23cm. Lot 28Three Chinese blue and white ceramics, comprising a 19th century porcelain circular lid with a Fo dog finial, 25cm diameter, 9.5cm high, an 18th century blue and white stone ware rice pot, 14.5cm diameter, 14.5cm high, and a modern blue and white vase, 11cm diameter, 12cm high. (3).
Lot 31A group of Chinese ceramic vases, comprising a bottle vase, famille vert decorated with prunus blossom, artemisia leaf mark to base, 20cm, a modern ginger jar and cover, decorated in underglaze blue with prunus blossom on a cracked ice ground, 14cm, and an Imari style vase and cover, 24cm. Lot 32A Chinese Qing Dynasty, 19th century, famille rose ginger jar, later converted to a lamp, the white ground decorated with lotus blossoms above cascading flowers , a yellow ground scrolling band of flowers to the neck, and a character mark within an altar tree, Kangxi style cobalt blue double concentric circle mark to base, fitting to lamp done externally with no drilling, jar 20cm tall, 50cm including fitting, together with a cream shade 31 by 23cm..
Lot 33A Chinese Qing Dynasty, 19th century, blue and white tureen and cover, decorated with bamboo and branches of prunus blossom, overpainted with gilt and red highlights, the domed cover with ribbon and flower knop, and the raised foot with two parallel lines, unmarked, 24.5 by 15cm high..
Lot 40A Chinese Qing Dynasty, 19th century, porcelain large ginger jar and cover, decorated in underglaze blue with four panels depicting various household objects, including vases, boxes, tables, plants, they are painted so as to show two different scenes mirrored from both sides opposite each other on the vase, against a cracked ice and prunus blossom ground, Kangxi style double ring mark to base, 23 by 29cm high..
Lot 41A Chinese, Kangxi period, early 18th century, famille vert porcelain circular saucer dish, decorated with an openwork vase form basket filled with various flowers, with underglaze blue fangding (archaic vessel) mark within a concentric double ring, a/f with chips and damage to rim, 1.5 by 18cm, set into an 18th century European metal mount decorated with a crowned queen crest and two birds amongst scrolling foliage and flowers, the frame also set below the crest with a small circular porcelain piece, overall 18.5 by 1.8 by 30cm..
