A Meissen porcelain figure, mid 18th century, modelled as male carpenter, wearing a tricorn hat, black coat and apron, holding an axe and pit-saw, after the Meissen original modelled by J. J. Kaendler from his 'Craftsmen' series of figures, on a rococo gilt-scroll base with applied flowers, small underglaze blue crossed sword mark to lower rear rim, unglazed flat base, faint / illegible inscribed numbers to base, 10 by 22cm.

More Information

There are some rough edges and possible signs of repair to the hat, the hand holding the axe, as well as some overpainted chips to one cuff, the hem of the coat. There are also some chips to the base as well as some small fire cracks.
