Impressive early English oak furniture, unusual collectables, bags of silver, and imposing paintings - all are up for auction as Batemans gears up to sell a Country House contents!

Erstwhile home of the late Marion Brown who had lived in Stilton for over 50 years and, with her husband, accumulated an incredible collection of furniture, collectables and arkworks.

Bolstered by them accepting many additional collections from several generations of their extended family that had passed away, including great aunts, parents, and grandparents - having lived in 'the big house' they always said yes to keeping and caring for anything that might have otherwise have been lost.

In later life Marion fostered a multitude of dogs, nursing many in their last days, and providing a welcoming home to previously unloved four legged friends.

Here is a peek into this impressive home and a chance to glimpse some of the pieces that will be coming up for auction at Batemans this summer!

One of the highlights will certainly be the imposing 17th century oak full tester bed, as shown above, with a coffered and panelled tester decorated in carved and moulded Tudor roses, with floral and dentil borders.

This will be offered for sale with estimates of £5,000 - £8,000
in one of our late summer sales (August or September).
