A Georgian style faux tortoiseshell box, circa 1940, of rectangular section with hinged lid inset with an oval portrait miniature, half length, depicting a Georgian gentleman with powdered wig, white cravat, black waistcoat and jacket, set behind glass within a thin yellow metal frame, yellow metal hinge and inset rail to front, frame and rail unmarked but testing as at least 9ct gold, 9.5 by 6 by 3.5cm, portrait 4.5 by 3.5cm.
