A George V oval portrait miniature of Spencer Lort Mansel Mansel-Carey, half length, watercolour, unsigned with gilt metal frame, Spencer Lort Mansel Mansel-Carey of 'Chesterton' High Street, Uppingham, fought and died in WWII as a Second Lieutenant of 9th Battalion Devonshire Regiment,
he died of his injuries after being hit during a bombardment on 24/02/1916 ironically near Mansel Copse, a few months before the battle of the Somme, 6.8 by 8.5cm.
