£50
A Japanese porcelain charger dish, Edo period, early to mid 19th century, decorated in underglazed blue and overglaze iron red with flowers and three reserve panels, surrounded by a diaper border, four characters to base '富貴長春' (Fuu-ki chiyou-syun), 6 by 40.5cm.
Notes: The marks to the base are not the name of the maker, but a message of good fortune with the meanings of wealth, reflection and longevity, this dish would have been used for celebratory occasions. This inscription was often used on Imari wares during the Edo period.
